It’s not every day you find yourself in the middle of a pandemic, when the world around you suddenly shuts down. 

 

In April 2020, I decided to use the opportunity to launch a dream business – create an all-natural, made from American grown soy, eco-friendly candle line to help first responders, military, and their families.

 

I had been doing quite a bit of research on the art prior to COVID-19...tons of reading, watching videos, testing vessels, waxes, and wicks. Once we were forced to work from home, it allowed me more time to perfect the craft.

 

The process hasn’t been an easy one. In candle making, there are many variables that can directly impact the quality of the candle. Room temperature, wax type and temperature, wick types and sizes, the diameter of the vessel, and so much more. In the weeks leading up to our launch, I had tested just about every size, type, and temperature imaginable. While both time consuming and frustrating, putting in the time to perfect our products has been worth it.

While I was preparing to launch, I remembered reading the story of Illinois State Trooper Nick Hopkins being shot and killed in the line of duty, leaving behind a wife and young children. I had never heard of Tunnel to Towers until I read the article, when it mentioned the Foundation had paid off the mortgage for his family. I reached out to T2T and within days had a signed contract agreeing to give them a portion of all of our sales.

 

This business is so much more than candles. It's keeping Stephen's legacy alive. It's about doing good and helping those left behind from the people that fight for our safety and freedoms.
